Deep Intimacy with God

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7

Deep intimacy comes from spending time with God, lots of time. In order for me to know God's heart, I must spend time, quality time with Him. I also have to open my heart and my life up to Him. He desires all of me. Almighty God wants to be Lord of my days, as well as my nights, of my joys, as well as my frustrations. I share my innermost secrets with Him, making myself vulnerable to the Holy Spirit's scrutiny. I don't always enjoy admitting things to God that I am not proud of. I usually just want Him to know the good things. But God comes to me with His grace, mercy, comfort, and peace. Deep intimacy does not just happen by chance. There is a cost to be paid. The Holy Spirit does not inhabit unclean vessels. Protecting the castle of our hearts is of paramount concern. This is how Jesus was able to eat with "Publicans and sinners", because He protected the castle of His heart before God. Relinquishing control is a major obstacle to intimacy with God. Ask God to guide you to a deeper intimacy with Him. He will help you. Ask and it will be given to you.
